It is widely acknowledged that the textile industry has one of the largest environmental footprints in the world. Our customers and suppliers face increasing pressure from the public to behave more sustainably. In keeping with the trends of our industry, Oakem’s long-term strategy is to continuously innovate, with the goal of mitigating the adverse environmental, social or economic impacts resulting from our direct activities as well as the use of our products.

As part of our commitment to sustainability, we constantly innovate to deliver products that are safer and more resource-efficient for customers and end-users alike.

We help textile manufacturers further maximize cost and resource efficiency, offering a comprehensive range of auxiliaries spanning the entire textile wet processing chain.

Oakem is committed to sustainability across the value chain. That commitment begins at home, where we work to reduce our own operational impact; and extends upstream to our suppliers, who are expected to uphold the same values that we do. It also reaches far in the other direction, where our products, tools and services cater to the needs of stakeholders that include textile producers, brands, retailers and end-users.

These relationships have long been a mainstay of corporate research and development (R&D) — from creating the knowledge foundations for the next generation of solutions, to serving as an extended “workbench” to solve short-term, incremental problems, to providing a flow of newly minted talent. Universities have become essential partners. Indeed, Oakem now looks to universities to anchor an increasingly broad set of innovation activities, especially those grounded in engaging with regional innovation ecosystems.

Our story begins with our name, we were born from the current need to do better, harming less, creating conscious processes that produce the smallest possible environmental footprint. We are chemists, but not toxic, we live to innovate and create from where we come from, nature; that is why we chose to represent us the most beloved tree in the world, the great oak, which symbolizes strength, morale, endurance and wisdom that together with what we are – chemists – we have the result of what we do: Natural Chemists
